Hoey House - Duncan, BC
The Hoey House is a historically significant house situated in Duncan in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. This was Charles Hoey's childhood home. Charles is the only person to be a part of World War II who received the Victoria Cross, a rare commendation only handed out to a select few brave people during the war. Four months after Charles heroically gave his life in service, his brother Trevor also lost his life in this war. Today the home stands proud, completely refurbished at the hands of a wonderful and caring couple who saw the beauty in the dilapidated old house, and is an important link to the history of the region and those who gave their lives in the name of freedom.
