Fairbridge
This special feature finds us visiting a wonderful little community in the Cowichan Valley called Fairbridge. Founded in the early 1900's as a place to send underprivileged children from Europe, an entire community arose in the middle of the valley to support them including housing, a chapel and a schoolhouse. Today, many of the buildings once used as boarding for the children are now homes lovingly restored and maintained to continue the tradition. Some of the stories are happy, some sad, but each is unique and helps us to create an emotional bond with the community and the buildings and artifacts still standing.
