Study: Chinese Cemetery
The Chinese Cemetery located at Harling Point, in Victoria BC, was designated as a National Historic Site by the Canadian Government in 1996. Family descendants still visit the site to burn incense and leave offerings of food for the deceased. The ceremonial alter has a magnificent view of the Olympic Mountain Range, in the United States.
The cemetery was still active up until the early 1950's, at which time it was closed. More information on this cemetery can be found here at the Old Cemeteries Society of Victoria website.
The Globe and Mail published an interesting story on this cemetery in 2001. The article can be read here.
