Cowichan Station Rural Traditional School
This school now sits abandoned in the tiny community of Cowichan Station on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Almost 100 years old at the time of this writing, local residents have long term plans to refurbish the facility and turn it into a very active community center. Closed after the 2007 school year, the building now sits boarded up and unused.
See the article "Community blooming at Cowichan Station Hub".
UPDATE: July 2012 - Today we are happy to share the news that the community has rallied around this heritage site and has repurposed and is in process of completely refurbishing the building and facility to support the community of Cowichan Station. This exciting initiative brings hope to all and is a source of inspiration for everyone who may be facing similar issues.
Visit the HUB online at the official Cowichan Station Area Association website.
