Thanks for visiting and commenting Matthew! Yep, you have found the spot where this building once stood. I have such bittersweet thoughts when it comes to our old buildings and how they are disappearing so quickly, however this one was truly a derelict building and obviously was irreparable. Cheers and many thanks for popping by!

I just checked out the neighborhood using Google Maps, and the building is now gone. It was on the South East of Cook and Empress Street, and while the building is gone, the little garage or shed is still there. Apparently it was being used as a Grow-Op, making it uninhabitable, so it had to come down. There's now a wire fence around the property with a "For Sale" sign on the land. Next door to it, the building to the north side of it (right on Empress St.) also has nobody living in it, and also has store bought "For Sale" signs on it.

The numbers on the front door say 2321 and you said it's on Cook Street.
So I checked a map for those numbers and that's near the George Jay Elementary School, south of Bay Street.

  • Hi Numa, sorry I still haven't been in Victoria recently. As for Langford, there has been a lot of new development going on there and as such I've noticed fewer and fewer buildings like this in existence there. I would suspect that the Pandora/Fernwood/Oak Bay boundary areas would be the best bets, but that's just a suspicion as I mention I haven't been scouting down there much lately.

Do you know any places in Langford?

  • Hi Numa! I'll do my best for you, but to be quite honest I likely won't be in the city of Victoria for a number of weeks here. Most of my time right now is spent on the outskirts of Langford or up in the Cowichan Valley and I don't make it into Victoria save for a couple times a year.

Could you look into the building on Pandora?

I'm told there is an apartment building on Pandora, somewhere near the intersection of Cook St, that is abandoned. Beyond that I am sorry to say I don't as many of these types of buildings we've shot in the past 5 years are now long gone.

Do you know any cool abandoned places which are still up and that I may visit?

Hi Numa, thanks for your kind visit and comments!! I am very sad to report that this building is now gone, I just drove by the site last week and saw an empty lot. It was a really cool apartment building and we are very happy we had a chance to photograph it!
