The Western Toad is a threatened species on Vancouver Island, and Kent Ball has spearheaded a project to rescue these toads as they migrate across the road to their new homes. Too many were lost due to traffic on the country roads and by working with local biologists and experts around the world, Kent has created a system that allows the toads to be funneled into catch buckets so volunteers can then safely transport them across the road by hand.
